Woodbury, MN. June 10, 2026 – In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Ideal Credit Union Foundation raised more than $13,000 for Sophie's Squad through a successful month-long campaign across its Twin Cities branches, marking the launch of the Foundation's new youth mental health initiative.

The Ideal Credit Union Foundation is dedicated to improving lives and strengthening communities across the Twin Cities. Through its mission to strengthen local communities by providing food security, promoting housing stability, and supporting youth mental health, the Foundation is expanding its impact by investing in organizations that help young people thrive.

Sophie’s Squad provides education and awareness to improve the mental health of athletes by encouraging open conversation and emphasizing that seeking help is a sign of strength.

"As we continue our mission to improve lives and strengthen communities across the Twin Cities, supporting youth mental health is a natural and important focus for our Foundation," said Shannon Butler, President of the Ideal Credit Union Foundation. "Mental health challenges can affect anyone, especially young athletes who often face unique pressures both on and off the field. We're proud to partner with Sophie's Squad to raise awareness, encourage open conversations, and help connect young people and families with valuable mental health resources and support."

Sophie’s Squad provides many free online resources including a guide to starting a conversation on mental health, an athlete resource guide, and a mental health check in

"Every day, Sophie's Squad works to equip young people, families, coaches, and communities with the tools, resources, and support needed to strengthen mental health and well-being,” Ryan Bahl, Sophie’s Squad, Marketing Director. “The support from the Ideal Credit Union Foundation helps us expand our reach, spark important conversations, and ensure more youth and families know where to turn when they need support."

The donation marks the Foundation's first major investment in youth mental health and reflects its ongoing commitment to addressing critical community needs throughout the Twin Cities. By supporting organizations like Sophie's Squad, the Foundation aims to help create healthier, stronger, and more resilient communities for future generations.
