Activate Your Mobile Phone

To register your phone for Mobile and Text Banking, follow these steps:
  1. Log into Ideal CU Online Banking.
  2. Go to the User Services tab. Under Manage Account, select Mobile Enrollment.
  3. Select your mobile carrier and enter your phone number.
  4. A text message will be sent to your phone. Reply to this text message with the Activation Code displayed on your computer screen.
  5. You will receive another text message confirming your phone activation. To initiate Mobile Banking, click on the link provided in the text message. Enter the Activation Code again, as well as your mobile phone number. You may now continue to use our mobile banking application.
Phone requirements: Internet capability for Mobile Banking. SMS/text message capability for Text Banking. Text message and data rates may apply.

Mobile Security Tips

General mobile banking best practices

  • Password-protect your mobile device and lock your device when it's not in use. Keep your mobile device in a safe location.
  • Frequently delete text messages from Ideal Credit Union on your mobile device, especially if they contain sensitive information (i.e. text banking sessions). SMS Text Banking messages are similar to ATM receipts, offering masked account numbers and no account details.
  • Never disclose personal information about your accounts via text message, i.e. account numbers, passwords, or any combination of information that can be used to steal your identity.
  • If you change your mobile number or lose your mobile phone, send Ideal Credit Union a secured message in Online Banking immediately to change the details of your Mobile Banking profile.
  • Do not hack, 'jailbreak' or modify your device, as this will leave it susceptible to infection from a virus or Trojan.
  • When possible, install mobile security software on your device (if it's available).
  • Be aware that malware exists and fraudulent applications will continue to pop up. Don't download applications onto your phone without checking them out first. If possible, use Ideal Credit Union’s website to download our mobile application.
  • Report any banking application that appears to be malicious to Ideal CU right away.
  • Monitor your financial records and accounts on a regular basis and consider having electronic alerts on account activity sent to your email or mobile device.
  • Bookmark Ideal CU’s mobile web site and only use that bookmark to access the site to avoid phishing.
  • Do not click on links in SMS messages unless you initiated the SMS conversation with Ideal CU.
  • Always use your cellular network when conducting mobile financial services and avoid using unsecure public Wi-Fi networks.

Protect your Online Banking access ID and passcode.

  • Do not store your Online Banking access ID and passcode on your mobile device
  • Do not use your Online Banking access ID and passcode combination in conjunction with other online systems
  • Periodically, change your Online Banking passcode
  • Utilize a diffIdeal CUlt to guess Online Banking passcode including combination of numbers, letters, and special characters, such as: ! @ # $

Protect your mobile device from malware.

Malware can pose a significant threat to mobile devices. A malware-infected mobile device can be used by fraudsters to secretly “siphon” confidential information, including Online Banking Access IDs and passcodes from the device.

  • Only download mobile apps from reputable sources and sites
  • Never perform financial transactions using a mobile device that has had its operating system unlocked or hacked (commonly known as “jail-breaking” or “rooting”)—these devices may have a much higher risk for malware infections
  • Consider utilizing a commercial anti-malware application or service with your mobile device

Physically protect your mobile device.

If you use your device for managing your finances, it is critical to protect it from loss, theft, or unauthorized access.

  • Enable your mobile device’s screen lock and passcode
  • Do not leave your mobile device unattended in a public place or visible in a car
  • Do not share your mobile device with anyone you would not want to have access to your financial information
  • Consider utilizing a “remote wiping” service that, in the event your mobile device is lost or stolen, provides the ability to remotely erase all of its data

What to do if your Mobile or Online Banking security has been compromised

If you suspect that the security of either your mobile device or Online Banking credentials has been compromised, contact Ideal CU immediately.

  • You can temporarily disable or completely remove access for your mobile device by logging on to Online Banking (, navigating to User Services > Mobile Enrollment, and choosing the desired option from the Mobile Banking Center menu
  • You can contact the Credit Union with any Online Banking questions or concerns, by calling (651) 770-7000, or (800) 247-0857—On-duty staff are able to discuss your security concerns and, upon request, suspend online access to your Credit Union accounts

Monitor your Ideal Credit Union accounts With Notify Me Alerts!

Receive alerts by text message or email to stay on top of your account activity to detect fraud within seconds.

Types of Notify Me Alerts

Account Activity Alerts
Opt-in to receive account alerts to monitor specific account activity, transactions and balances. Use this feature to avoid service charges, ensure transactions are cleared, and be alerted to any suspicious activity. Account Activity Alerts include:

  • overdrawn accounts
  • low balance notifications
  • cleared checks
  • direct deposits made
  • transactions for certain amounts that you decide

Security Alerts
Security alerts are delivered automatically to the email address associated with your email address in Ideal CU Online Banking. Security Alerts are sent when:

  • Changes are made to account login credentials (Access ID or passcode)
  • Online transfers from Ideal CU accounts
  • Online transfers to external accounts at other financial instiutions

Elect to have security alerts sent to a secondary email and/or your mobile device by text message.

Set Up Your Alerts

  • Log in to Ideal CU Online Banking and locate the Notify Me Alerts tab
  • Ensure your contact information is correct in the box. To update, click the "Update Email Address/Mobile Number" button
  • Select the tab of alerts you wish to customize in each category (Account Activity, Messaging or Security)
  • Subscribe to any or all of 16 alerts available from the three tabs
  • Using the edit option, customize the frequency and delivery mode for your alerts (email or text). You can enter up to two email address

Note: When entering a new mobile number, you will be required to enter a registration code that has been sent to your mobile phone. Once the registration code has been entered on the website, the phone will be enrolled.

Quicken users: here are step-by-step instructions for the Quicken One Step Update and activation.

Step 1 Open the Account List

1.Click Tools

Step 2 Remove/deactivate all Ideal CU accounts from One Step Update

**If the account is not currently activated, skip this step**

1. Click Edit
2. Online Services tab, click Remove from One-Step Update or Deactivate
3. Click Yes to deactivate this service
4. Click Ok
5. Repeat these steps for all Ideal CU accounts

Step 3 Activate One Step Update

1.In the Account List, Click Edit on one of the Ideal CU accounts

2.Under the Online Services tab, click Activate One Step Update or Set up now… for Download transactions directly from your Financial Institution.

3.If prompted for a Financial Institution, type Ideal and select Ideal Credit Union from the Financial Institution list

4.Type your Online Banking Access ID in the Ideal Credit Union User ID / User Name field

5.Type your Online Banking password in the password field

6.Click Connect

NOTE: One Step Update works per access ID. Therefore, all Ideal CU accounts (including joint accounts) listed under the same Access ID in Online Banking will Activate and Update at the same time.

Step 4 Link the accounts to existing Quicken accounts

1. Select the account type from the first drop-down: Checking, Savings or Credit Card
Select Link – to existing Quicken account and click the corresponding account
3. After all the accounts are linked, click Next

Alternative way to download transactions

1.Select a Ideal CU Account, click Account Actions > Update Now or Ctrl + Alt + U

Type the account password

1. Click File
Click File Operations… > Validate and Repair
Check the Validate file box
