How I got my car payment for free

I’m one of those people who don’t need a new car every few years. I wanted to drive my SUV until it died to avoid an unwanted monthly expense for a car payment. That was a great plan until WHAM – me and the pizza delivery guy collided totaling my car-payment free SUV.

What do you mean ‘no-fault’?! Clearly it was his/her fault!

I never cared about or understood what being a ‘no-fault’ state means when it comes to auto insurance. That is of course until I got in an accident that was in no way, shape or form my fault. The pizza delivery guy turned left when he shouldn’t have; I had the green light, he had the yield. (Everyone was ok.)

If you’re like me, you hesitate to give your mobile number to businesses as a way contact you. It’s a little more intimate than providing an email address. As landlines fade away, giving your mobile number as your primary contact is a smart move and can save you.

Why is a checking account still called a checking account?

Are cute checks with puppies, leather checkbook covers and check registers a thing of the past? It may be the direction we’re headed considering many retailers and restaurants post signage that states “Checks not accepted.” So the question is, why do we still call it a checking account?
